A midland and hilly province just north of Hà Nội and a major industrial centre; population about 1.4 million (2024). It hosts a large Samsung electronics complex, steel and metallurgy, the famous Tân Cương tea region, and is a national education hub. In the 2025 merger it expanded by absorbing the former Bắc Kạn province.

Summary
