A midland province at the northern apex of the Red River Delta, regarded as the ancestral land of the Hùng Kings; population about 1.5 million (2024). Its economy combines tea, paper and chemicals, FDI manufacturing and heritage tourism. In the 2025 merger it expanded substantially by absorbing the former Vĩnh Phúc and Hoà Bình provinces.
