Dinh Nguyen is an accomplished Economic Analyst, Projects & Data Management Officer at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), where he drives the digital transformation of global economic statistics. With a diverse background spanning the private and public sectors in Vietnam and the US, Dinh possesses a unique ability to bridge the gap between economic policy and technical implementation.
A Fulbright Scholar with an M.Sc. in Applied Economics from George Washington University and a Fellowship from Brown University, Dinh stands out for applying the SDMX information model to the nuances of trade policy and real-sector statistics. He has successfully led cross-functional teams to modernize the infrastructure behind core IMF statistical datasets, advancing the Fund's shift toward interoperable, standards-based data systems.
His approach leverages early experience in trade analysis at the US Consulate General in HCMC, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and academic research on trade liberalization to design data systems that are not only technically compliant but analytically meaningful. Currently serving in the Financial Institutions Division, Dinh continues to strengthen member countries' capacity in data management, translating complex data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making.
Dinh has been on leave from HAPRI since 2022. On a personal, unpaid basis and outside his professional commitments, he occasionally stays in touch with HAPRi's leadership, informally mentors students building new technical skills, and shares perspectives on the modernization of NGO operations.
