Frequently asked questions
What is LawWatch?
LawWatch is a free research tool by HAPRI that tracks the Vietnamese legal documents behind key farm exports (durian, coffee) and behind personal finance (income tax, social insurance, pensions, wages). Each tracked law gets a plain-language summary, its effect status, the issuing body, and a link to the official text.
How often is LawWatch updated?
Weekly. An automated pipeline checks the official phapluat.gov.vn portal every Sunday, adds newly issued documents to the registers, and refreshes every page on this site in the same run.
Are the summaries legal advice?
No. Summaries are machine-assisted and reviewed for research purposes; they are not legal advice. Every entry links to the official document on phapluat.gov.vn — always consult the official text.
Which topics does LawWatch cover?
Three registers today: durian (growing-area, quarantine, packing and compensation rules), coffee (replanting, quality and sustainable-production standards plus provincial decisions), and personal finance — the laws behind HAPRI’s seven salary, tax and social-insurance calculators, from the Personal Income Tax Law to the base-salary decrees.
Can I get the data?
Yes. The full dataset is published as JSON at lawwatch.hapri.org/data/lawwatch.json, and the newest entries are available as an Atom feed at lawwatch.hapri.org/whats-new.xml. Both refresh weekly.
