HAPRI SEMINAR: Population Graying, Technological Changes, and Their Economic Implications


Introduction:

The seminar will examine the impact of aging workforces on labor markets and income distribution. This research focuses on Japan as a case study, investigating the substitutability between older and younger workers, and how technological advancements affect different age groups. This talk will explore the relationship between workforce aging and increased foreign worker employment as a potential response to labor shortages, offering policy implications for countries facing similar demographic and labor challenges.


About presenter:

Professor Nguyen Quoc Hung is currently a faculty member at School of International Politics, Economics, and Communication (SIPEC), Aoyama Gakuin University in Japan. His research spans the fields of humanities and social sciences, with specializations in economic policy focusing on demographics and foreign workers, as well as theoretical economics with emphasis on macroeconomics and financial markets.
